Vows Are Done Big in Clinton Hill & Fort Greene

On Monday, February 22, a street in Clinton Hill once again turned white. This time by people instead of snowflakes. It was the wedding day of life-long resident Nikki Apicha Jawelo Johnson. Accompanied by a host of her friends and a drumming procession led by her brother Kojo Ayinde Johnson, Nikki marched from her home, to Emmanuel Baptist Church and into the presence of her love Raymond S. Johnson.  It was a great take on walking down the aisle, and represented the African tradition  of community.  Rev. Anthonly L. Trufant officiated the ceremony attended by many who have known the bride all or most of her life.  Mr. & Mrs. Johnson are professionals in the performing arts. How Hollywood, Nikki keeps her last name while taking her husband's.  Click Here for the full New York Times article and here for more great photos.
