In an effort to make sure PLENTY is as up-to-date as possible, we have moved the publication date from summer to fall. Why? It’s an election year and PLENTY includes a list of your representatives and their contact information.
Fall is good. Many of the outdoor activities will be over and you’ll be all settled in and cozy. It’s the perfect time to curl up and read about Clinton Hill/Fort Greene, grab the phone numbers for some great food deliveries, check out some of the listed websites, visit the PLENTY blog, hang out with PLENTY on Facebook and follow PLENTY on Twitter.
Stick with me. You’re going to get a great book.

What’s Up In Clinton Hill & Fort Greene
As toddlers we’re taught to watch our step. As a result we spend most of our lives on the street looking down, or no further north than street level. With manholes exploding and the occasional coin find, I guess it’s not a bad idea to keep a watchful eye down south. However, in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, there’s quite a bit going on above our heads as well. Recently, I decided to walk around the neighborhood looking skyward. Like the rest of Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, what’s up is interesting. Next time you’re out keep your head up. You may find something you like.

Neighborhood Promise in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene Representation, Preservation. Presentations & No Preservatives
REPRESENTATION
On Monday, August 2nd, Congressional candidate Kevin Powell was in court upholding his right to run for the office, against a lawsuit filed by Ed Towns, Congressional representative of the 10th CD for the past 27 years. A recent video on Powell’s website made a strong point and served as the lead-in to the type of representation he plans to provide for the district….he will be present and his constituents will know who he is. Powell says “What Brooklyn needs more than ever is a leadership that builds bridges for the people of this community to reach a fresh, new destination...”

Residents on Vanderbilt Avenue (Myrtle/Park) have not been silent about their concerns and feelings regarding the building at 122; and it looks like a knight in shining armor has shown up. The Landmarks Preservation Commission is currently plowing through the paperwork to preserve this stretch of land containing Civil War-era homes. According to reports, the Wallabout Historic District would encompass 55 buildings on the block, among them Greek and Gothic Revival townhouses. This street in Fort Greene is said to have the highest concentration of early 1800s Greek Revival buildings in the borough. More about Wallabout

PRESENTATIONS
Transparency is coming to Fulton & Rockwell. According to current reports, when the BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn renovation is completed a glass, street-level façade will welcome us in. Word is the updated building will also include a 250-seat theater as well as a smaller performance space, a gallery for contemporary art, a café, and a gallery and store for Urban Glass. I wonder if the walls of the old Strand Theatre will talk during this $30 million renovation. Details

NO PRESERVATIVES/ NO BOUNDARIES
A very large colorful sign on Myrtle Avenue, next door to Walgreen’s in Fort Greene, has promised the Organic Natural Food Market for quite some time now. Problem is, there’s never anyone around to snoop with. I missed them the day the brown paper went up, so I’m going to keep thinking it’s going to be really good since it’s so hush hush. Same goes for the sign on the chain link fence boasting a ginormous supermarket on Myrtle near the new Toren condos. 13,000 square feet, wow! Looks like this one's going to run far enough to provide a waterfront view.
