Hollywood & The Hot Seat

I'm still writing, and still giddy over all that's going on in Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, especially now that the weather has perked up.  We're never at a lost for action and adventure here.  If a movie isn't being made on our streets, a video or television show is being shot.  On the Internet, neighborhood restaurants are being revered and reviled, and on the streets, well, I’ll save that for another time. Here’s a little of what's been happening lately.

Debbie Dangerfield hosted her annual Hollywood In Brooklyn gala, a 20-year tradition in Clinton Hill, on Oscars night.  The well-attended event originated in Debbie’s home in 1990, moved to Steiner Studios in 2008, and found its new home last year at St. Luke’s Church.  For last Sunday’s event Debbie and her team transformed the church’s auditorium into a lavish banquet hall…red carpet included.  The Brooklyn Ink was there.  Check out their website for the full story, and Hollywood in Brooklyn’s site for photos of previous years. In case you missed it, Mojito Cuban Cuisine Restaurant was featured on "Kitchen Nightmares" (Season 3 Episode 4), and it seems like Gordon Ramsay, of "Hell’s Kitchen" fame, may have saved the day…..for the eatery and its owners. Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz makes a guest appearance. Click here for the full episode and here for Mojito’s website.
