FORT GREENE/CLINTON HILL GETS MEDIA LOVE

Fort Greene & Clinton Hill run up the interesting scale daily.  Fifty people gather around backyard bonfire on a snow-filled January night to watch a film about Antarctica. A super featherweight female boxing bout happens at Masonic Temple; and Fort Greene resident and actor Denis O’Hare of True Blood fame, bites a fan in local Bravo supermarket. You just never know what’s next. So while we wait and see, I thought I’d show some of the love the neighborhood’s been receiving lately.

THE FILM & PHOTO SET
Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance Calls Fort Greene “our place in the world" and of course shouts out Fort Greene Park.

Clinton Hill resident, David Svedosh, sees local shop, Jaz Tattoo, as a “microcosm of Brooklyn culture” and is working on a documentary to prove it. The filmmaker will have the trailer online in a few weeks.
Pratt MFA student, Kira Wakeam, captures some of the style of Fort Greene in a slide show, Fort Greene Fresh: At the Flea.

BESTS & FAVORITES
The Local starts a new series called Local Favorites, in which residents talk about their favorite neighborhood haunts; and
the New York Daily News lists Fort Greene Among “Best Places to Live in New York for Singles.”
