PLENTY TO WEAR: FASHION IN FORT GREENE

Styling All Day Everyday
Well, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week decamped and returned Lincoln Center to its music mavens. But, for the fashion conscious in Clinton Hill/Fort Green, the gathering of garments is a year-round event.  As a new season enters our reality, and holiday shopping enters our thoughts, take a look at the shoppertunities for children, fashionistas and the budget conscious around the neighborhood.

A walk along one of CHFG’s main strips and some of its side streets will put you smack dab in front of a place to halt your stride. There’s garb for you, your children and your pets.  You can get your fashion on for as little as $1.99 at a variety store or take it all the way to the top with custom sneakers and designer labels at a number of boutiques. So while fashion as a big event has ended for the season, fashion as a lifestyle continues in Clinton Hill/Fort Green.

A    lil somethin' for the ladies.......The latest fashion entry in Fort Greene is Brooklyn Stone Boutique.   Formerly an online store, Brooklyn Stone has gone brick and mortar at 366 Myrtle Avenue (Clermont/Adelphi).  “I wanted to create a shopping experience where customers may relax while making decisions,” says owner and neighborhood resident, Regina Stone.   The cozy boutique carries apparel, bags and shoes from
luxury brands and independent designers, offering what Stone calls affordable luxury. Future plans include Stone’s own signature line, personal shopping, and makeup service.  Stone says clients will be able to go directly from the store to that special event.
